Delta Gamma’s philanthropy, Service for Sight, supports the five schools founded by Delta Gammas for children who are visually impaired and other North American organizations that promote sight preservation and conservation.

This philanthropy has been at the heart of the Delta Gamma mission since 1936, when a member who was blind, Ruth Billow, Eta-Akron, petitioned to adopt it as our official philanthropy. Epsilon Kappa supports Service for Sight through our philanthropy events, AnchorSplash, AnchorBowl, Slices for Sight, and Donuts with DG.

Philanthropy events

AnchorSplash

AnchorSplash is one of our main philanthropy events. Students can form organized teams and buy tickets to compete against each other in water games, such as water balloon fights and synchronized swimming dances. Raffle tickets are also sold to raise additional money for our philanthropy, with baskets full of gifts given out to the winners!

Slices for Sight

Donuts with DG

Donuts with DG is our annual philanthropy event that occurs in the fall! During this event, DGs sell dozens of Krispy Kreme donuts to students, family members, and friends! This event raises a large amount of money for our philanthropy, while allowing everyone to enjoy a sweet treat... or 2!

Slices for Sight is our annual spring philanthropy event! Members of DG sell tickets to purchase delicious pizza on Clemson's campus. Anyone is welcome to simply buy some pizza and hang out! All of the money raised goes toward our philanthropy, Service for Sight.

Our chapter is very passionate about doing good in our community. We work closely with the
South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind by holding fun events to make braille cards
throughout the year for several holidays. Recently, our chapter was accepted to partner with SAS, a
technology company based out of Raleigh, NC, to make braille code blocks. These blocks are
used to educate visually impaired children in the field of computer science, which is crucial with
the growing importance of technology and computer literacy in today’s world.
